Denise M. Berry

President / CEO, SVRC Industries and Westlund Guidance Clinic

 

Denise M. Berry brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as President and CEO of SVRC Industries, encompassing Westlund Guidance Clinic. With a rich professional history and a passion for making a positive impact, Denise's journey is marked by a commitment to bettering the lives of others.

Prior to her current position, Denise served as the executive director of Shelterhouse of Midland & Gladwin Counties, as well as the chief executive officer of Family & Children’s Services of Mid-Michigan. 

A retired Army engineer with 13 years of service, Denise notably became the inaugural director of Military Student Affairs at Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU), later transitioning to a pivotal role supporting veterans dealing with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and military sexual trauma at Emory University’s School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA.

With advanced degrees from Columbia University, Webster University, and Central Michigan University, Berry's accolades include SVSU’s Outstanding Performance Award for 2015-16, showcasing her exceptional contributions.

Beyond her professional career, Berry has served as vice-chair of the Mid-Michigan Veteran’s Advocacy Council, staff advisor for the SVSU Men’s Club Hockey Team, and competed for the U.S. Women’s National Ringette team in international championships. Her coaching prowess shone as she assisted the silver medal-winning team at the World Ringette Championships in Toronto in 2017 and celebrated victory with Team USA's gold medal at the World Ringette Championships in Espoo, Finland in 2022.

Denise's impact extends beyond sports and academia. Her dedication to advocacy is reflected in her involvement with organizations like The Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence, SOGI Youth Advisory Council, and American Legion Post #439. As a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by HRCI and a certificate holder in Applied Positive Psychology, Denise embodies a holistic approach to her endeavors.

In 2022, Denise was recognized with a Visionary Voice award by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, underscoring her unwavering commitment to creating positive change.

Yolanda Bellinger, Chief Clinical Officer, has a passion for empowering individuals and advocating for equitable opportunities in life. Her journey in the field of mental health and social work has been marked by a commitment to serving others and breaking down barriers to access.

Yolanda's career began at Westlund Guidance Clinic, where she started as an intern and quickly progressed to the role of case manager. Her drive and dedication led her to become a clinical therapist, utilizing her expertise to support individuals facing various diagnoses. With her exemplary leadership skills and commitment to excellence, Yolanda eventually ascended to the position of Director at Westlund Guidance Clinic, where she made significant contributions to the organization's growth and impact and initiated Westlund's annual fundraising event, "Stomp Out Stigma," in 2019. Yolanda moved to become the Vice President of Behavioral Health for all of SVRC Industries and as of 2021, she assumed the position of Chief Clinical Officer at SVRC. In her current role, she continues to oversee Westlund Guidance Clinic and now the Empowered Voices program where she has been working to enhance the services provided.

Yolanda's professional qualifications include certification in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, proficiency in various assessment tools, and completion of the Incompass Leadership Academy. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor's degree from Spring Arbor University and a Master's in Social Work from Michigan State University, providing her with a strong academic foundation for her work.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Yolanda is deeply invested in community engagement and advocacy, serving on the board of directors for the Nartel Family Foundation.

Yolanda's philosophy is rooted in a profound belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. She recognizes the importance of storytelling and human connection in fostering empathy and understanding across diverse experiences. Through her work, Yolanda strives to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live their best life, free from the limitations imposed by societal barriers. She thrives on collaboration and community involvement, actively seeking out opportunities to engage with and uplift those around her.
